Update on w/c 9th July

This week was a full scale event week as my brand starts its POME project with colleges and the 1st day (9th Jul) was at Taylor's College. Turnout was rather poor despite a big auditorium. We had celebrity Guest Speakers (Motivational Speakers). After the session, headed off for my 2nd private lesson as this Sunday is the competition already. I felt more confident and did a much better job comprared to the week before. I had the last Private Lesson for Cha Cha and it was way better than the first! I regained some confidence alas!

Once again, I cancelled my Wednesday's corporate class explaining that I had to practise for my competition. Basically the days went by really fast. The 2nd event was at Inti College and it took almost the whole day. Dropped my PR agencies (account servicing) back to their office in Midvalley. Thursday was my worst practise session at the studio and I got there late thinking that my category will start later. They waited for my Duo category to dance together as there only 2 teams competing. That was the only full dress rehearsal I did. I used the same for my Individual dance as well. Saving the best for last!

Anyways, come Friday I got a 1/2 day off (later half) which was TOUGH to get. Good thing I was advised by a good friend to book DS in the afternoon as it is usually free. Booked for an hour and practised a bit whilst Darcy filmed me. It turned out ok la but need to polish up a bit (actually a LOT but oh well, that's the best within the short time frame!). 1 hour costs RM80 so had to make full use of it. I did a full dress (solo) there. Went for a drink, did my manicure and subsequently left for home after dinner to pack up for the next 2 days.

Came Sat, hearts thumping very hard as the next day was D'Day!!! I left my house after completion of packing coz I will be staying at Shang for 2 nights. I left sometime in the afternoon. Had my boots done. Bought some titbits, water and headed to the studio for my FINAL practise. I started about 4pm and was there till nearly 8pm. I did my intro for Waltz and Funky only then. U see la, forever last minute! Teacher was there to help touch up which was good. I then went off to Sugimoto for dinner and then headed to Shang to stay the night.

I picked my sleeping partner in front of Sungei Wang and headed to the hotel. Straight away we headed to the ballroom after checking in which was past 10pm to start checking out the floor and identifying the walls (only Line Dancers understand the "Walls" meaning) . My duo came after midnight and we practise a bit more on our Duo dance as well as solo dances and headed off to bed.

Couldn't sleep as I was excited and nervous about the next day. I know I rolled around on the bed and I only had 3 hours of sleep before waking up to go down early to test the floor ONCE more. Imagine how tired I was for the competition but somehow with the adrenalin pumping, it managed to keep me awake.

Laziness to blog - update on w/c 2nd July

Lets start with w/c 2nd July. Hopefully I still can remember the details. Week started off fine. Work wasn't exactly the best as I had quite a lot to occupy my time. Good thing I cancelled my Tuesday nite classes for 2 weeks to concentrate or go for practise whenever I can. Oh yea, wasn't feeling too good on Monday so I took an MC to have the day off on Tuesday. I was feeling really dizzy and wanting to puke. Saw the doc and he said I was or may have Vertigo and gave me some medication for it. The flu was in town at that time and I felt like I was starting to be down with it having the slight sore throat and all. Not wanting to miss out on the opportunity or the time that I had, I left to go practise as I was getting all worried and worked up about the competition the following Sunday. Went for private lesson on Monday to sort out dance techniques.

Due to high workload, I even had to cancel my Wednesday class and came up with an excuse that I wasn't feeling well. Of course I got it nicely from them since it was a last minute notification. It's my fault but I couldnt' leave work. There was just too much because we had a team building session on Thurs and Fri which I've already showed the pictures in the older posts. I didn't practise in that 2 days that I was so called team building. Went to LC for dinner after I got back to KL on Friday evening. It was the Chinese restaurant by the poolside which has been refurbished. The 1st time we came since it's refurbishment, food was lousy but that evening turned out pretty ok. Came Sat, me and Rebecca utilize the studio in the morning session as one of the teacher's was away to work out our steps. Went to CB MK to join Darcy for breakfast.

I brought my costume as I was supposed to see my tailor after the noon class to have some alterations done. Well, Darcy and Dato accompanied me to Sg. Wang to have the alterations done and I was mad when she said that she can't do it immediately as she had urgent orders and didn't know that I wanted it back on the spot. Perhaps it was a communication breakdown. I have already informed that I was coming and tailor was under the impression that I would take the costume back in a few day's time. To cut the story short, I wasn't willing to leave it in the tailor's hands and agreed to come back another day as the costume was meant to be a surprise for people. We headed for a Brazilian buffet dinner at Parkroyal and it was good! So much for trying to lose weight hehehe and competition was only in a week's time.

Did not show or did my best for Sunday's training. I reached late and didn't know that they have started with my category already. It was not the case the last few rounds of practise. Oh well, I did what I had to do and felt low too at that point of time as I still can't seem to excecute certain movements as expected. That's just about all that has happened in that past 1 week.

So Excited - Today's Show

I really like this song and quite like the different moves shown here.

Trip to Taman Negara - Day 2

The 2 dungus, myself and roommate (forgive me roomie if you ever read this hehe) was the 1st to arrive at the breakfast area as we were told that it was 7:30am. Everyone else was still sleeping, oh well! At least we had an enjoyable 1 hour breakfast whereas everyone else was practically rushing through breakfast. Here are some pictures of the resort that we stayed in.

A lot of them stayed on till nearly 2am the night before for karaoke. I was tired and couldn't stand the cigaratte smoke PLUS the horrifying tone deaf singing! I know I can't sing for nuts so I should not be complaining. Oh well, after a good breakfast, it was time to get ready for the CANOPY WALK. We travelled by boat to the jungle or place that we were supposed to hike.

Here we are all ready to start our exercise of the year for most of them! Thank God I still have my dancing as this really reveals how unfit most people are hehe.....This is still the beginning and you will see a landing where people rest to wait for their turn to go on the canopy aka hanging bridge.

They even have RULES:

Anyways, for those who can't see, it's basically rules for the canopy walkway where we can't smoke, don't shake the bridge, etc... which nobody bothers. I'm a good example hehehe as it's fun to scare the rest who are afraid of heights. It was ok for me. Only got dizzy after much shaking haha....indirect backfire! These are pictures of me and some colleagues on the bridge...as well as the landings that we stopped at. It can only take 4 people at 1 time.

Unfortunately, we could not do the Rapid Shooting because water level was too low so we proceeded to the visit the 'Orang Asli's settlement' after our lunch. Lunch was by the river which was nice.

Orang Asli's settlement. Interestingly enough, they are the Original Aborigenes living like a nomad moving from one place to another. So far, they have been living in the current place for 6 months now. Not exactly that primitive as they must have gotter a fair amount of exposure. Sone even have watches and smoking away cigs. Wonder where they get the money!!

Since we could not do Rapid Shooting due to low water level, we were still equally drenched coz we had 2 boats as you have seen in the pic above. What the drivers did was to go side by side and just place the oar a little slightly under the water's surface, the water will just splash to the side that you are guiding it too. This went and on and on a few times. It was really fun with everyone getting soaked completely. Oohhh, after the fun's over, everyone went back to pack, change or bathe to get ready for departure back home. Bye Bye Taman Negara!!

One Cool Hip Hop Routine!!

Medley of songs:
Christina Milian - Whatever You Want
Pussycat Dolls - Don't Cha
Justin Timberlake - Take It From Here
Michael Jackson - Off the Wall
Aerosmith - Dream On
Ugly Duckling - Energy Drink
Snoop Dogg feat. Pharell - Drop It Like It's Hot
Monica feat. Dirtbag - Set It Off

Trip to Taman Negara - Day 1

It's my 1st trip to Taman Negara!!! Must show a bit of support in visiting local areas since it's Visit Malaysia Year 2007 haha...trying to be politically right! ;) Well, it was a team of around 20+ people comprising of my colleagues and ad agency's employees who are indirectly our partners in crime.....no la, partners at work.
All of us met at 6:45am at the office which was EXTREMELY EXTREMELY EARLY for me to wake up. I never even reach the office on normal working days so to speak so this is 1 big effort....which of course also helped that I stayed over at MK instead of Subang. I was just 5 minutes late after having to drop off my car at the parking lot and waited for the rest. A colleague was super duper late and she ended up meeting us at the Karak McD stop. Everyone had a quick breakfast and followed by our slightly pass 3 hours journey to Taman Negara. We had a guide whom I believed provided the coach service to the rest of the people. Fortunately I was in my boss's car so we were leading the way most of the time. I believe the time taken to go would have been shorter had we not made some wrong turns and having to wait up for the rest of the cars.
Anyhow, we got there eventually and the Woodland Resort where we stayed in was a 3 star accredited resort. It was ok. You can be expecting luxury when you're here more towards an outdoor event. This wasn't just a fun and play trip. It started off with Training from the Strategic Planner of our ad agency and lasted till about 5:20pm. Following that, it's free time till the next day in the late afternoon before we depart. Different groups had different agenda hence went different ways. I went with the group that decided to take a walk to the river where if we cross by boat (small distance where you can practically look across) is so called Taman Negara. I choose to believe I'm right. Other groups did other things. We were all looking forward to the Canopy Walk and Rapid Shooting the next day. I must say that they have really nice stones!!!

A green moth......

To cut the story short, it was a really humid day and everyone was practically perspiring after the walk and decided to just chill out a while before the BBQ dinner. It ended with a karaoke session which I practically found it a pain to the ears coz only 2% out of the entire time I was there, singers seemed to be tone deaf. Mind you, that may include me as I was just trying to sing 1 song but everyone started singing along so I just let it be. The only pitiful part is that a good friend got me hooked to TONG HUA by GUANG LIANG and when I got the know the song was being played, I was SO HAPPY!!! The sad part was I had not memorised the words to sing along and the turnoff was the off key part....*haih*.....y la no better singers, spoil the song only!! :(

Motivated and Doing Better this time!!!

Sat, 30th June
Ahhhh...finally! I felt so much better after today's training. I tried my best to do and incorporate as much all the techniques and corrections due to me in my competition steps. I went back last night to practise until I nearly puke coz there's 1 turning in Waltz which just made me so dizzy that I had to lie down. It may have helped if I was bulimic and able to get food out of the system! Stomach felt uncomfortable, the cantonese word used is "fan wai" which I dont exactly know what it means but I know it's related haha. Contradictory isn't it? Perhaps I dont know the right technique but oh well, I tried a few rounds, manage to kind of do it better. or it could also be the Vietnamese food I had. It's also my dad's birthday today. I went to practise last night again after dinner hence had to cut it short. It's quite selfish of me but I am so tensed and freaked out about my competition that I just want to shine and do well and not make a living mockery out of myself!

Sun, 1st July
My duo partner came back today for training after being held like in prison at the BOOTCAMP hehe for the Dance Reality Show, 1st of it's kind in Malaysia. I am sure you guys know of 'So U Think U Can Dance' created by Simon. Friday was the finale show and the winner was Alam, a Malay breakdancer for this 1st season. Wonder if there's going to be the 2nd season. May consider trying out haha....as IF boleh match standard.

Wah, today I try la a few breakdance stunt and I kinda fell on my back landing on my right elbow. Way to go man despite competition being just round the corner. My teacher actually pose me the challenge that I won't be able to do it because erm, I have additional weight from both assets hahahahah.....She might be right but I WON'T give up trying!!! WAIT AND SEE!!! If jadi, i superwoman! I will pose a picture here to show I made it.

Anyways, been a good girl but kinda had my Java Chip Tall from Starbucks after lesson heheheh... I can NEVER DIET!!! If I psych myself to diet, I tend to crave for more sweet things than when I don't. Weird reverse psychology. Need to go to bed already. Going to be a cramp week ahead. Just hope it all goes well having to balance work and dance.
I pray that I can escape from my Taman Negara trip this coming Thurs & Fri.
